Born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. Sharleen grew up close to many of South Africa's top safari destinations. Naturally, she spent many family holidays in the bush. After completing her studies, she joined Wilderness Safaris and then & Beyond, where her budding talent for travel was nurtured, and her passion for Africa grew. Sharleen has visited many of the top lodges in Africa and has been fortunate to experience the best of the continent firsthand. In 2006 she moved to the United States to work in Sales promoting African Travel. Since moving to the states, she has broadened her travel expertise to include Asian and South American destinations.
Her 26+ years in the industry include founding her consulting firm and DNA wild DMC. Sharleen has mentored numerous consultants in African Travel. As a servant in African travel, her superpower is her ability to navigate complicated logistics whilst injecting her creative flair.

A proud South African girl at heart, I grew up traveling with my family across the beautiful landscapes of South Africa during school holidays. Exploring the diverse regions and the wonders of nature sparked my passion for travel from a young age, and I consider myself fortunate to have been bitten by the so-called "Travel Bug"!
I embarked on my journey in the Travel & Tourism industry in 1997, and 27 years later, I can't envision a life without the joy of exploring some of the world's most stunning countries and sharing my travel experiences and enthusiasm with others. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of visiting luxurious lodges and hotels in Africa, Europe, and South America.
Throughout my career, I've been lucky to hold various positions and explore numerous destinations within the Travel Industry. I was the first woman to be employed by the Blue
Train in its 52-year history and later took on the role of Train Manager. My experience also includes organizing functions and weddings for the Southern Sun Group, lecturing at a hotel school, and working as a retail travel agent, as well as an inbound and outbound travel expert, trainer, and Sales Manager at companies like Thompsons Travel and Wilderness Safaris.
With my extensive background in different areas of travel, I offer a unique perspective to the team, enabling us to craft personalized travel itineraries alongside our partners.

I discovered my passion for safaris in 2018 when I joined a Travel DMC company as a file controller, quickly advancing to junior consultant. This role introduced me to safari planning and guest experiences across Southern Africa, allowing me to craft seamless itineraries by combining diverse destinations and activities.
In 2019, I expanded my expertise to East Africa, exploring its rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. By 2022, I joined DNA Wild, aligning with my dedication to wildlife, conservation, and personalized travel. Working directly with guests has been rewarding, transforming my approach to itinerary planning into a process of truly understanding their dreams and expectations.
Every traveler is unique, seeking varied experiences from adventure to peace. My role is to interpret their goals and design fulfilling journeys in Africa.
